The results of a mini facelift typically turn back the clock anywhere from 5-10 years. How long the results will last depends on a combination of factors, genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors. Dr. Solomon’s mini facelift incorporates the deep plane facelift technique which in itself provides a longer lasting outcome.
If the mini lift is performed on the right candidate, it’s a great procedure that can last up to 10 years. The downside is that it’s a limited procedure in that it only addresses the mid-face and therefore isn’t suited for everyone. Most people, as they age, do need to address the lower face and neck, as well as the mid-face.
The mini facelift is best suited for those in their 30’s and 40’s. Once patients reach their mid 50’s, likely advanced signs of aging will have started to affect the lower face (jawline, jowls) and neck.
This is a procedure that is available to restore the face but not dramatically restore the neck. This procedure is suitable for younger patients who are looking to improve the contour of their cheeks, jawline and lessen the Nasolabial fold and reduce some of the heaviness that can occur with the again process as your face descends.
Different anatomy can dictate which facelift technique is most suitable. In older female patients, the deep plane facelift will address the lower face, jawline, jowls, and neck and is often the appropriate procedure for this demographic. In younger female patients, a mini-facelift will address the mid-face where early signs of aging may have begun. A mini-facelift does not include the neck.
A neck lift in females is typically reserved for women looking to reshape an obtuse-shaped neck without the need to address their lower face.
An isolated neck lift alone is more commonly utilized in men who do not want or need their lower face addressed with surgery.

This inclusive approach removes excess skin along the neck and chin, tightens and tones the facial muscles, and includes an element of liposuction to suck out excess fat deposits.

Depending on patient preference, it is also possible to combine a facelift with a browlift or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to address baggy skin and brow wrinkles.
Mini Facelift
The easiest way to explain the difference between getting a mini lift and full facelift in Toronto is that a mini lift almost exclusive targets the mid-face region. This area includes the jowls, cheeks, and nasolabial folds (the lines between nose and mouth) but does not include anything higher than the nose or lower than the mouth.
The surgical approach is different from a full facelift and can be more minimal, allowing for around a single week of recovery rather than the normal two. The incisions are also smaller, which means noticeable scarring is much less likely. Mini lifts do not normally include liposuction.
Which Is Right For Me?
Mini lifts are good for treating mild-to-moderate facial sagging and muscle tone issues but are unable to address loose skin along the neck and jaw. This makes mini lifts preferable for younger patients, typically in the 30-40 range, who have not developed the skin laxity to be particularly “jowly”.
Older patients, particularly individuals who have been consistently slim for most of their lives, may also not have enough loose skin in the neck and jaw to warrant a full facelift. Since a mini lift is not as dramatic, its results are also subtler compared to a full procedure.
This, combined with the 3-7 day recovery time, can make a mini lift attractive to people who don’t necessarily want others to know they’ve had work done. A final advantage to mini lifts is that they can be performed under local anesthesia, which can be a valuable option for certain people.
The main difference between a mini and full facelift is the areas being addressed. If you have loose skin and fat deposits along the jaw and jowls, a full lift will be required. If you only have mild-to-moderate sagging in the mid-face region, a mini lift will be a more affordable and convenient way to achieve your aesthetic goals.
