Bellafill is an FDA and Health Canada approved dermal filler for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds or smile lines. It’s a unique, injectable collagen filler with microspheres that can instantly smooth facial wrinkles (nasolabial folds) for beautiful, natural-looking results that last.
Bellafill is also used for treating depressed facial acne scars. Many patients who have suffered from acne are left with depressions in the skin and textural changes. In these cases, Bellafill treatment restores volume to the scarred tissue and is the only dermal filler proven to stimulate the body’s own collagen production.
For these patients, Bellafill can provide long-term correction of acne scarring since it also contains tiny microspheres that are made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), one of the most widely used materials in medicine for over 65 years. PMMA is a non-degradable inert material used for various medical purposes over the last century. Dr. Philip Solomon often uses Bellafill in conjunction with Erbium or C02 Laser Resurfacing and subcision (a minor surgical procedure for treating scars and wrinkles) for the most effective long-term results for acne scarring.
Bellafill replaces lost volume in the skin below the wrinkle for results that are immediate and lasting. The injectable gel is comprised of 80% purified collagen and 20% PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) microspheres. Bellafill is different from other dermal fillers as it restores, rather than just fills, giving natural and enduring results.
Bellafill offers a new level of filler rejuvenation. In addition to immediately adding volume to smooth away facial wrinkles, known as smile lines, Bellafill helps your skin re-create its own firmer structure for beautiful, younger-looking skin.
In some cases, requiring major volume restoration or correction of severe acne scarring, Bellafill is administered in multiple stages to obtain optimal results and help restore and rebuild the skin’s matrix for long-term correction.
Enjoy a youthful look that lasts!
Treatment with Bellafill is very similar to treatments with conventional injectable fillers. Bellafill contains lidocaine to lessen the discomfort from the procedure. With proper placement, Bellafill cannot be felt after treatment. You may see immediate results in wrinkle correction and can return to your normal daily activities after the procedure.
As with any injectable filler, you may experience temporary pain, swelling and reddening at the treatment site. These side effects are usually gone within a few days. Occasionally, there is transient bruising that typically disappears within 7 days.
Less common side effects include rash and itching more than 48 hours after treatment, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at injection sites. Two other rare potential side effects of all fillers may be lumps and granulomas, both of which may be treated by Dr. Philip Solomon, an OTL Head and Neck Surgeon practicing Facial Plastic Surgery. Be sure to call Dr. Solomon’s office immediately if you notice any unusual skin reactions around the treatment area. A follow-up is suggested at 4-6 weeks. This also allows you to decide if you would like to further enhance or correct the area.
Patients who have a history of severe allergies, known bovine collagen allergies, are allergic to lidocaine, prone to thick scar formation and/or excessive scarring should not receive Bellafill. For more Safety Information please consult with Dr. Philip Solomon and the patient labeling that can be found by visiting www.bellafill.com.

As with many cosmetic procedures, the duration and the results of procedure truly depend on a combination of the product and how your body responds to it, as well as the skill of your specialist. Fortunately, at Solomon Facial Plastic we offer access to one of the most experienced surgeons in the industry today. Dr. Phillip Solomon, an Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon practicing Facial Plastic Surgery, is one of the most sought-after experts in the industry.
Dr. Solomon has personally completed hundreds of Bellafill procedures over recent years. Most patients have at least five years of optimal results when using Bellafill to treat nasolabial folds, and 12 months when using the treatment to correct acne scarring. Our team of medical professionals can explain more about these results to you and provide you with before and after pictures from some of our previous patients.
The latest data has shown that Bellafill is completely safe. The filler has undergone five years of extensive studies to prove its safety in various treatment conditions. In fact, Bellafill has been placed through the longest and most extensive study and testing stage of any dermal filler product. This helps prove the safety and viability of Bellafill in helping patients achieve their ideal skin.
One of the great advantages of the Bellafill treatment is that results from the procedure are almost immediate. You will see visible improvement immediately after the treatment with optimal results appearing in three months. Some patients notice further improvement up to a year after being injected. Bellafill works to replace lost volume in the skin below the indentation area, for a significant and quick improvement in skin conditioning.
We know that many of our patients are working professionals who simply don’t have the flexibility to take time off work and other activities after their procedure in order to rest. Fortunately, the Bellafill treatment has been designed so that you don’t have to take significant time away from work. Patients can immediately begin resuming normal activities after their Bellafill treatment. However, you may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising as the treatment begins to take effect. This swelling rarely lasts more than ten days while the overall treatment will assure you have exceptional-looking skin for a period of 12 months or more!
In order to move forward with a Bellafill treatment, it’s important to establish if you are a good candidate first. Your age, your medical history, your personal cosmetic expectations, and your history with facial cosmetic procedures all play a role in determining your candidacy. It’s also important to ensure that do not have any contraindications, these will be reviewed during your consultation with Dr. Philip Solomon’s medical team.
Adult men and women, who have undergone the required skin test, are eligible for the treatment. There have not been any studies done on the safety of the product for women that are breastfeeding or pregnant. There have not been any studies done on the safety of the procedure for use on anyone under the age of 18.
Once your eligibility has been established, you can then begin to prepare for the procedure that has been proven to be effective for men and women with various skin types. It’s important to let Dr. Solomon and his treatment team know if you have a history of any allergies or a bleeding disorder, as this could impact your eligibility for treatment. The treatment also cannot be performed if there are any skin outbreaks in the areas that are to be treated and will have to be postponed until the skin is clear.
One of the leading reasons so many patients now choose Bellafill is that they can experience immediate results from the treatment, as well as the duration of its results. The process is also one of the best and most natural ways to correct the aging process and achieve beautifully smooth skin. It’s a process that has been proven safe and effective for a broad range of patient types and when completed by an experienced injector and surgeon, such as Dr. Solomon, can offer proven value over the long-term.
