Are you interested in a vibrant facial appearance that reflects your youthful self? A facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can maintainand enhance your natural looks, while eliminating signs of aging Find out five key things you should know before you plan your facelift in Toronto.
Cosmetic procedures for the face are rising in popularity every year. They are no longer just a privilege of wealthy and famous, ordinary men and women of all economic demographicswant to restore a more youthful look to their features and are turning to advanced methods of a facelift. The new approach to smoothing wrinkles and lifting sagging skin is much more subtle today, and patients ranging from 30-80 years old can seek a faceflit that works well for their features and age.
A Toronto facelift generally describes a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to reshape the lower half of the face through removing excess sagging skin while also tightening underlying muscle structure. Also referred to as a rhytidectomy, hundreds of thousands of men and women undergo this elective procedure in North America each year. It remains the most effective, permanent way to safely turn back the clock and dramatically reduce signs of aging on the face. Commonly done as an outpatient procedure, the patient may return home a few hours post-procedure, or may choose to stay in a private surgical recovery facility if offered. Though usually taking anywhere from 2-4 hours to complete, the term, ‘facelift’ is often used to describe a combination of facial rejuvenation procedures,so the length of time required will vary. A traditional procedure will involve incisions just in front or behind the ear and extending up to the hairline. Theseare placed so that they can be well-hidden.
Many people will add a neck lift to tighten platysmal bands, remove neck fat and excess skin. Another common area to treat is the forehead which can benefit from a lift to tighten and elevate the brow, brightening up the eye area. In combination with a brow lift, many patients opt for blepharoplasty of top or bottom eyelids, removing fat and drooping, sagging skin. Some facial plastic surgeons will reposition or place fat in strategic facial areas to enhance cheeks and fill hollows. Liposuction can be used during a facial surgery to reduce fat under the chin, in the jaw or cheek area. And Laser Resurfacing has become quite common to help reduce the appearance of fine line in areas around the mouth and and eyes especially.
Facelifts come in mini size too! This less-invasive option is well-suited to people who have some wrinkling and laxity around the midface and jowls, but no neck issues requiring surgical intervention. A smaller incision around the ear allows the surgeon to lift the mouth corners, smooth the crease between nostril and jowl, sculpt and tighten the jawline. Recovery time and scarring for this option may be slightly reduceddue to the smaller incisions used.
The answer to this depends on how you look at it. The vast majority of people who undergo this procedure still seem younger in 10 years than they would have without it. Most modern procedures carried out with experienced, reputable facial surgeons provide long-lasting rejuvenation for the face, not just removal of skin and a ‘pulled’ look. A well-executedfacelift procedure will age well and keep you looking natural but younger as the years pass. There are a few things that you can do to ensure optimal results. Avoid smoking, avoid excess sun exposure and maintain a healthy diet. People who take good care of their skin and their whole body tend to look younger, longer.
