If you’re considering a skin treatment that will give you great results, it’s important to know what the treatment you’re considering is best used for, and if you are a candidate. The last thing you want is to spend money on a treatment that didn’t do what you wanted it to do.

Photofacial is an innovative technology that uses light energy to treat aging skin, sun damaged skin, freckles, small facial veins, and acne, while also improving the texture of your skin and tightening it as well. Photofacial is a gentle, noninvasive and safe procedure that does not require any topical anesthetic. The most common areas treated, are the areas most exposed by the sun such as the face, neck, chest, back of hands and shoulders.

At Solomon Facial Plastic we use the Sciton technology, which is known to be the best IPL technologies available. A consultation is essential to best determine if you’re a candidate for IPL based on your age, your skin type and what you hope to accomplish. Many patients may require 3-5 treatments to achieve the best possible results.

How it works…your medical provider will use an applicator that emits targeted light waves that generates a gentle heat to the upper layers of your skin, stimulating skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This energy that is absorbed by the skin is what eliminates fine vessels that cause redness and reduces the unwanted melanin that causes freckles and age spots to appear.

Following your Photofacial treatment, you may experience some redness that should go away in a few hours. Some of your freckles or age spots may appear darker, but they will eventually flake and fade away. You can apply makeup and resume your normal routine immediately. However, your skin will be quite sensitive to ultraviolet light until you have completely healed so it’s best to avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen to fully protect your skin while outdoors. The number of treatments you will for best results vary from patient to patient.
