With modern advances in medicine, health and technology, the average lifespan has increased far beyond prior comprehension. As it is commonly said today 40 has become the new 30, and evidently the trend has carried on throughout middle age. Many people today feel their physical appearance on the outside does not necessary reflect the youth and vibrancy felt on the inside. Loose and saggy skin is displayed as a most obvious sign of aging.

It is apparent that through developments in science that exposure to sunlight, daily stresses and the constant pull of gravity, can have serious effects on the facial aging within all individuals.

Consequently, as skin ages, creases between the nose and mouth begin to form as the jaw line begins to slack, giving way to fat deposits around the face.

Rhytidectomy (facelift)


Rhytidectomy (also known as the facelift) is a common cosmetic facial plastic surgery procedure facial procedure in which excessive tissues in the face and the neck are either removed or tightened. The facelift is often carried out to decrease the rate of aging for a relatively young patient, or in other cases the facelift maybe utilized in an attempt to fix already wrinkled, sagging skin helping the patient look and feel much younger and refreshed. Facelift surgery in essence will reposition structures deep within the facial region, creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.

Most facelift patients range from there 40’s to their 60’s, and though it is most popular within this age group, facelifts can be performed on people in their 70’s and 80’s as well.
Unfortunately it is hard to say how long the effect of the facelift operation will be maintained, as it can somewhat vary between 5 to 10 years.

Facelift Surgery Recovery


Depending on the extent of the facelift, surgery recovery can be as quick as 2 weeks or longer in other cases. As mentioned in most cases bruising is commonly overcome by 2 weeks after the operation. The facelift procedure is a viable way to regenerate life into your skin and is a most common cosmetic surgery.
